Dr. Brian J Strasnick is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Laboratories LLC. Dr. Strasnick is a national leader in the clinical laboratory industry. In 1995, he founded Willow Laboratories, which grew to be one of the largest national laboratories specializing in toxicology testing. Dr. Strasnick’s philosophy when starting Willow Laboratories was to provide the highest quality service, using the latest technological advances and delivering results to the clinician in the quickest time possible so that treatment could begin immediately. He brings that same commitment and philosophy to Commonwealth Laboratories.
Dr. Strasnick received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northeastern University, CPU and NU School of Law and completed his training in behavioral medicine at Tufts New England Medical Center. In 1998, Dr. Strasnick was named Outstanding Alumni in Health Sciences from Northeastern University. Dr. Strasnick is board certified in pharmaceutical sciences and behavioral medicine and a member of the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine. He is an active member of several professional associations including the Psychoneuroimmunology Society. In addition to his publications, Dr. Strasnick has lectured extensively throughout the country. Dr. Strasnick sold Willow Laboratories in 2012 so that he could devote all of his time and efforts to Commonwealth Laboratories.
Craig Strasnick is the Chief Operating Officer at Commonwealth Laboratories and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company including financial, customer service, legal, sales, marketing and more. He is involved in all aspects of business functions and is responsible for leading a management team and managerial consultants who contribute to the development of Commonwealth’s operational solutions. In addition, he is accountable for the strategic planning and resource allocation of the company, as well as establishment of new procedural implementation and improvement. Craig ensures that the multi-disciplinary and cross-organizational projects of the company materialize and provide commercially viable deliverables. He focuses on the establishment and optimization of processes and procedures, and he plays a critical role in guiding the continuous definition of the company on multiple domestic and global platforms. He strives to develop, implement and maintain atmospheres throughout the various levels of the company that rely heavily on ambitious goals, customer-driven solutions and multi-faceted collaboration that deliver patient-centric products and services.
Craig graduated from Northeastern University’s Management and Entrepreneurship program in Boston, MA with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. During his undergraduate career, Craig worked as an Account Executive at Willow Laboratories, where he was responsible for national account management and customer service initiatives. Following his graduation from Northeastern, Craig took on the role of Director of Marketing for Willow Laboratories, where he was responsible for overseeing the sales team and bringing new marketing campaigns to fruition.
Dr. Lou Traficante is the Laboratory Director at Commonwealth Laboratories. Dr. Traficante is a Clinical Biochemist and Forensic Toxicologist with over 30 years of experience in clinical laboratory medicine. He received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University, completed his post-doctoral work at the New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital and became board certified by the National Registry in Clinical Chemistry and the American Board of Forensic Toxicologists. As a prolific author, educator, peer reviewer and medical laboratory compliance consultant, he is often called upon as an expert witness in state and federal courts, and provides opinion testimony to a large number medico-legal organizations.
Dr. Traficante has provided over 200 educational forums, training seminars and workshops to a wide variety of clients. His current research interests include the application and diagnostic benefits of breath testing.
Matt Pressman is the Director of Operations at Commonwealth Laboratories and reports directly to the CEO and COO. Matt is responsible for the management of the operations and procurement department; which includes personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling/equipment needs. Matt oversees the shipping and receiving processes at Commonwealth Labs to ensure quality control and fulfillment measures are met. Additionally, Matt secures and maintains all of the vendor relationships for Commonwealth Laboratories and works directly with the COO to ensure a streamlined and efficient ordering protocol is established.
Matt graduated with a BA from Merrimac College in North Andover, MA. Prior to joining Commonwealth Labs, Matt worked as an Intake Coordinator at the Lynn Probation Department where he worked directly with the Director of Probation; as well as the defendants, prosecutors, defense attorneys and probation officers to ensure a fair and accurate court process, as well as manage and ensure proper transfer of documentation and legal information.
Steve Carr is the Director of Business Development at Commonwealth Laboratories and reports directly to the CEO and COO of the company. Steve is responsible for the oversight of the company’s sales network, as well as continuously prospecting and building new business relationships through direct sales and strategic partnerships. Steve’s focus is on building relationships with clients and maintaining an excellent standard of account management and operational solution for those clients. He provides consultative onsite or web-based presentations to educate prospective clients on current services and new product offerings. Additionally, Steve oversees the company’s many distribution channels throughout the country and abroad to ensure that there is not only a consistently-updated and uniformed training protocol in place for the sales reps; but also that there are clearly-defined expectations and procedures for the conduct of all reps in the field.
Steve graduated from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. He was the captain of the baseball team at Franklin Pierce and worked in the Customer Relations Department of Willow Laboratories throughout his entire undergraduate career. Upon his graduation, Steve was offered a sales position with Willow Laboratories where he consistently exceeded quarterly sales goals and became the leading Sales Representative within 10 months of his start in the Sales Department. Steve was quickly transferred to a Senior Account Manager position where he was trusted to establish and maintain relationships with the company’s top customers.
Gray W. Rifkin, Esq. is Commonwealth’s General Counsel and Director of Commercial Affairs. Gray participates in the operational management and strategic planning of Commonwealth. Gray provides leadership for Commonwealth’s legal and regulatory affairs, ethics and compliance programs, and corporate governance activities. Gray also manages and oversees various aspects of Commonwealth’s strategic business initiatives.
Prior to joining Commonwealth, Gray practiced law at a prestigious, AV Rated, full service law firm located in South Florida. Gray represented clients, including Commonwealth, in commercial litigation matters as well as a wide range of corporate and intellectual property transactions. Gray has successfully represented Commonwealth in the negotiation and strategic licensing of multiple intellectual property portfolios for cutting edge diagnostic technology in the gastrointestinal field.
Gray graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif in recognition of his academic excellence. Gray earned recognition on the Dean’s List for his academic performance in every semester and served as an Articles and Comments Editor for the University of Miami Business Law Review. During his law school tenure, Gray was also a recipient of the Outstanding Merit Scholarship and Outstanding Public Interest Scholarship. Gray received the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement (Book Award) in Constitutional Law, Property Law, and Sports Law, and maintained membership in the Federal Appellate Clinic and the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Clinic. Gray was also honored for his performance in the litigation skills trial program.
Gray graduated with high honors from the University of Miami (B.A., Phi Beta Kappa) earning his Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree with a major in Political Science and a minor in Business Law. As an undergraduate, Gray was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society; Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society; Order of Omega Honor Society; Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Society; and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
